MICHAEL MAGRO FOUNDATION HOLDS 4TH CHARITY GOLF OUTING<\/h2>\n

A full course of golfers converged onto the green at Cold Spring Country Club on June 10th in support of the Michael Magro Foundation and to enjoy a great round of golf. The day was a resounding success, raising a remarkable $290,000 for Long Island\u2019s beloved charity which helps families with a child battling cancer or other catastrophic illness.<\/p>\n

The energy was high with supporters of the Foundation and honoree, Ryan Dempsey, who, when receiving his award, shared his deep passion for the Foundation. \u201cThis is a great room with great people. Michael Magro Foundation means the world to me. I have known the Magro\u2019s my whole life and am proud to be a part of helping to meet the mission. I am humbled by this honor.\u201d Dempsey, Managing Partner of East End Group, was presented with his award from the Foundation along with a special citation by Nassau County Legislator, Joshua Lafazan. In his remarks, Lafazan noted the important work being done by Dempsey. \u201cRyan is engaging the next generation of philanthropists on Long Island. He leads by example in how to care for our most vulnerable.\u201d Lafazan further noted the importance of getting people into the habit of supporting nonprofits early on.<\/p>\n

Guests were delighted to safely come together in the main ballroom for dinner and a return performance by Long Island comedian, Chris Monty. He noted it was \u201cgood to start getting back to normal\u2026performing in front of live audiences once again\u201d and that this is a cause close to his heart, having lost his mother to cancer several years ago. The audience clearly agreed as the room filled with laughter.<\/p>\n

Michael Magro Foundation is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization founded by Paul and Terrie Magro to honor the life of their son Michael, who passed away from leukemia at age 13. The Foundation works with the Cancer Center for Kids at NYU Langone Long Island Hospital, Stony Brook Children\u2019s Cancer Division, and other NYU, Cohen\u2019s, and Stony Brook pediatric specialties where treatment of chronic diseases is ongoing, as well as with children\u2019s hospitals throughout Florida. Calls for assistance during the pandemic have resulted in the expansion of the Foundation\u2019s footprint to several states across the nation. Core programs offered are Life Essentials [helping families struggling financially during their child\u2019s treatment with non-medical expenses]; Project SOAR [providing support for childhood cancer patients, families, students, and teachers when the child returns to school following a long illness]; and Bonding With Baby [helping siblings of babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) communicate and bond]. In partnership with The Spencer Foundation, the Foundation offers Operation Playcation, an initiative providing inpatient pediatric hospital patients with new PlayStation units and games.<\/p>\n
