2022 Golf Outing

5TH ANNUAL CHARITY GOLF OUTING FOR MICHAEL MAGRO FOUNDATION DRAWS SELL OUT CROWD

Long Island, NY: A full course of smiling golfers were on hand on June 9th at Cold Spring Country Club to enjoy a spectacular round of golf in support of the Michael Magro Foundation. The early morning hours saw wild thunderstorms and lightning that threatened to halt the event. But the quick moving front left the area with plenty of time for golfer to arrive, get some practice in at the driving range, and tee off right on time. The day proved enormously successful for Long Island’s much-loved charity [helping families with a child battling cancer]. When the counting was done, more than $235,000 was raised to support these families in crisis.

Michael Billia, Senior Vice President and Regional District Manager for Investors Bank was this year’s event honoree. Mike also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Foundation, making the presentation of his award both poignant and emotional. Mike accepted the award, noting that serving this organization is both an honor and a gift. “Every day I get to work with the [Michael Magro] Foundation is a true honor, and it reminds me how truly blessed I am in my life. I am grateful to my colleagues and my friends for the support they showed the Foundation through this outing because I know the impact these funds will have on families living in crisis.”

Long Island comedian, Chris Roach entertained the audience during dinner, and laughter filled the room from start to finish. Guests noted that the entire day was a welcome return to normal outings, particularly after two years of Covid-related modifications.

Co-Founder and Vice President of Michael Magro Foundation, Terrie Magro, expressed her appreciation to all those who supported the outing. “Everyone at the Foundation is so grateful. We were really fortunate with the weather, enabling everyone to have a spectacular day on a beautiful course. And to have Mike as our honoree has been a wonderful experience. He is a true friend, supporting our work, introducing our mission to the bank, and providing excellent counsel as a member of the Board. Our sponsors, Board, Golf Committee, and volunteers all gave so freely of their time and talent to make this event a success. Our families in need will benefit from their efforts., We cannot say thank you enough.”
